Officially the People's Republic of Bangladesh , is a country in South Asia. Straddling the fertile Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta, it is part of the historic ethno-linguistic region of Bengal.
The name Bangladesh means "Country of Bengal" in the official Bengali language.
