Grameen Shamogree, a Non profit company was established on January 15, 1996. It finances rural industries and markets their products, especially those produced in labour-intensive industries in Bangladesh and overseas. It is working hand in hand with Grameen Bank, the premier organization of the Grameen Family of Companies, to achieve dream for a poverty free world. Today, the production side (mainly the Grameen check) is handled by Grameen Uddog while Grameen Shamogree’s objective is to promote the products manufactured by Grameen Uddog.

Grameen check was set up by Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chairman of Grameen Bank who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2006 by The Norwegian Nobel Committee. Today, Grameen Check fabrics are sold through 7 Sales Centers in major locations in Dhaka city and also exported in many International countries. Already more than 2400 designs have been produced and these have been well received by the fashion conscious buyers of Europe and North America. They have been displayed at a number of textile and apparel fairs in Europe, Asia and North America.
